About this Experience
Step into the iconic Guggenheim Museum and explore a world-class collection of art housed in one of New York City’s most architecturally significant buildings. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its groundbreaking design by Frank Lloyd Wright, the Guggenheim is a masterpiece in itself. Inside, wander through its impressive permanent galleries and admire works by legendary artists including Cézanne, Gauguin, Manet, Monet, Picasso, Pissarro, Renoir, and more. A highlight is the Thannhauser Collection, showcasing exceptional pieces from Degas, Kandinsky, and other modern French masters. From Impressionism and Post-Impressionism to sculpture and the Avant-Garde, the Guggenheim offers a captivating journey through nearly 600 works of art. Commissioned in 1943 and completed over 16 years later, this museum is a must-see for architecture buffs and art lovers alike.
Things to Know
Before your visit to the Guggenheim Museum, join the Pass Holder line outside and present your pass to the ticketing team for entry, note that children under 12 receive free general admission with a paying adult and do not need a scanned pass. The museum offers accessible entrances, elevators, restrooms, and provides complimentary wheelchairs and assistive listening devices. For a quieter experience, visit Monday mornings when most NYC museums are closed; avoid peak crowds during “Pay What You Wish” hours on Mondays and Saturdays from 4PM–5:30PM. Keep in mind that parts of the museum may occasionally be closed for exhibition installations, so it’s a good idea to check the website beforehand. Be sure to explore current exhibits, some may require an additional ticket, and download the Guggenheim’s Digital Guide for access to audio tours, artwork details, and building history in multiple languages. Photography for personal use is allowed in designated areas, but flash, tripods, and selfie sticks are prohibited.
